Simple Mermaid Cake Smash

After talking with Mommy and Daddy they let me know they were wanting a more simplistic mermaid cake smash first birthday shoot.{See more First Birthday Cake Smash Ideas} I love all the photos of sand, seashells and props but sometimes it can definitely draw attention away from our first birthday girl! So we put together the main colors for this cake smash. Then decided to add the little mermaid suit she is wearing to add the perfect little touch of her first birthday theme.

Ombre Mermaid Cake

We loved the look of a simple colored ombre mermaid cake. We choose a triple layer cake for a little extra height. Our birthday girl loved every bit of her cake! Some one year olds have not had cake yet or maybe its just too sweet for their little pallets. This was not the case here she really went to town! My favorite photo is where her arm is around the cake while she’s taking huge bites, seriously too cute!
